Over 50 young females from 5 different schools visited Pineapple for Project Eve Showcase
Pineapple Community worked in conjunction with The Movement Factory on Project EvE, a program designed to empower young females through dance.
This amazing program came to an end with a showcase at the studios before the Easter break.
Over 50 young females from 5 different schools visited Pineapple and showcased all the hard work they had done over the term, and performed their dance for each other.
The day ended with a fun workshop during which the girls impressed us with their dance skills!
After all their months of hard work, our Sports Leaders have officially completed their course and placements!
The group had previously attended an intensive training workshop in October 2016.
A huge congratulations for all their hard work; they will all be receiving their awards!
Pineapple Community, London Youth and The Movement Factory partnered up for another dance residential.
The weekend of events was held at London Youth’s Woodrow High House for young people aged 14-18 years old.
On 10th–12th March over 50 young people and youth workers came together from different parts of London to participate in a special dance weekend based on well-being, dance, movement, fun and fitness.
The young people worked extremely hard over the course of the weekend. Each day started at 7.30am with yoga, meditation & stretching classes with four hours of different dance styles and three hours of fitness classes. The youngsters also had an opportunity to pitch a project to win funding from London Youth.
The weekend ended with an open discussion led by the instructors, who shared their individual journeys. This inspirational discussion focussed on staying motivated, and motivated the young people to follow their aims and ambitions.
Pineapple Community joined forces with Kenrick Sandy MBE
We had an exclusive free workshop with choreographer Kenrick Sandy MBE on 4th March 2017.
The workshop was open to 14—25 year olds; young people from all over London attended this workshop. The young people were very energetic and loved learning from Boy Blue’s Kenrick.
Kenrick was a hit with our young people and we were honored to have such a special session with Kenrick.
Debbie Moore and Pineapple contributed to the Ultimate News Quiz 2017 in support of Restless Development and Action for Children
This year’s Ultimate News Quiz took place at Plaisterers’ Hall and was hosted by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, as quizmasters for the night, plus guest hosts Grayson Perry and auctioneer Alastair Stewart.
We were excited to welcome young students from Shooting Stars Academy in December 2016.
The students travelled from their home in Warrington, Cheshire to take part in a special masterclass with two Pineapple Community instructors.
Over four hours of class at the studio the young dancers learned urban dance styles, which they enjoyed a great deal.
It was an exciting day for the students and for us – their energy and enthusiasm was uplifting, and there was a lot of laughter.
We look forward to seeing them again!
On the 29th October 2016, we took a trip to Glasgow alongside Nike dance athlete Kymberlee Jay.
Our goal was to deliver a special hip hop masterclass for a dance school in Glasgow.
Our students enjoyed the masterclass especially as it was a style they had never tried.
An annual competition also took place, and Pineapple Community reps were invited to join the judging panel.
It was a lively day and we thoroughly enjoyed working with so many talented young dancers!
Our Sports Leaders Dance Leadership course was fully booked
Our participants had a great time during the Pineapple Community October half term intensive.
From September to December Pineapple Community instructors visited nine schools to work with them over a 10 week period.
On Friday 9th December 2016 term ended with a bang as all schools came together at Pineapple Dance Studio!
