The Human Seasons/ After the Rain/ Flight Pattern
Dates: 16-24 March
The Royal Opera House
A new commission from internationally sought-after choreographer Crystal Pite forms the climax of an evening of three modern masterpieces by The Royal Ballet.
Acclaimed as ‘one of the most talented and intriguing choreographers working today’ (New York Times), Olivier Award-winning Pite recently received a Critics’ Circle Award for Polaris at Sadler’s Wells. She has been working with The Royal Ballet and Górecki’s haunting ‘Symphony of Sorrowful Songs’ to create a large-scale ensemble work that is certain to be a landmark event for the company.
Joining this world premiere is David Dawson’s The Human Seasons, inspired by John Keats’s poem on the seasons of life and human emotions. The atmosphere of reflection continues in Christopher Wheeldon’s After the Rain, set to Arvo Pärt’s beguiling works Tabula Rasa and Spiegel im Spiegel.
