Ballet is the foundation from which nearly all dance styles have developed.

It requires strong technique, athleticism and grace. Pineapple has a long tradition of excellence in ballet instruction. Our teachers are experts in their field. They have performed with prominent dance companies in the U.K. and abroad. Alongside their extensive performance credits, ballet teachers at Pineapple Dance Studios are all experienced in the art of teaching, with a long list of teaching qualifications.

Ballet Classes

    • Ballet

      Don’t worry if ballet passed you by the first time around, at Pineapple our beginner’s classes are for beginners of any age. And lots of people attend ballet classes for the sheer pleasure of the dance, and not in order to become a professional.

    • Ballet (incl. Pointe Work)

      An imaginative and inventive barre, the chance to experience some Cecchetti style and centre work... All taught with good humour, wisdom and patience .

    • Barre and Stretch

      Alex's Barre & Stretch is about increasing strength, flexibility and improving technique through alignment.

      Alex’s individual attention to positioning and the wide range of popular music throughout, creates a atmospheric environment to work hard in and get results!

    • Basic Ballet

      Basic ballet classes are for those looking for a good basic understanding of the classical ballet technique, which not only improves fitness but is also great fun.

    • Contemporary Ballet

      Tory's class is the most fun you can have doing ballet, with live music every day from amazing musicians.

    • Classical Ballet

    • Contemporary Ballet / Flying

      LCBT company class is an extension of classical ballet, infused with a contemporary feel to refine and nurture your technique and artistry. A class filled with daring jumps, rolls and floor work.

    • Jazz-Ballet Barre

      Milo's classes include his Miloteque syllabus which is Ballet based and falls under the Jazz-Ballet category. A really a good work-out for ALL levels from Elementary to Professional, which works on getting back to basics.

    • Movement & Body Conditioning

      A body conditioning class simply called 'Limbering'. Class starts at the barre doing leg swings of various heights then use body bends and pelvic tilts. We finish at the barre with a stretch combination.

    • Pointe Work

      Pointe technique is the part of classical ballet technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet within pointe shoes.


    • Adam Pudney

      Born and trained in Australia, Adam Pudney moved to London and joined London City Ballet, dancing in the corps de ballet and performing soloist and character principal roles. In 2007, Adam gained the Royal Academy of Dance Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma.

      Alex is an acclaimed choreographer and teacher who started her career as a professional dancer following over 10years of extensive training in classical ballet, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre and commercial styles.

    • Amber Doyle

      Amber trained at the Royal Ballet School and Central School of ballet, Graduating with an A level in dance history. Performance credits include Phantom of the Opera, dancing the role of a ballet girl and Meg Giry.

    • Amy Hollins Suitable for those with previous ballet experience. The class will focus on strength, stamina and artistry whilst developing a greater understanding of the classical ballet technique.

    • Denzil Bailey

      Denzil trained as a professional ballet dancer at the West Street Ballet School in London. fter a successful career dancing with London Festival Ballet and English National Ballet he expanded on his classical foundations dancing in contemporary companies.

    • Diana Conti

      Diana’s ballet lessons are aimed at giving individual attention to help with posture, alignment and coordination, focussing on expression, interpretation and musicality.

    • Emma Northmore

      Emma has been informed that she is that rare type of teacher that can teach both high quality Classical AND Musical Theatre dancers. Her career has spanned fifteen years, eight of those being with English National Ballet Company, where she was awarded two promotions, performing Soloist roles as a First Artist.

    • Ian Knowles

      Ian trained at the Royal Ballet School. He was principal dancer with Northern Ballet Theatre, P.A.C.T SA. and Washington Ballet DC. He toured internationally with these companies including London and New York. He appeared in the world tour of Wayne Sleep's DASH. and worked extensively in film and television.

      Joel is a principal dancer with international ballet companies and in the West End. Joel has toured the world in many productions and appeared most recently at the Palladium in London's West End in the 2015 production of Cats.

    • Kim Mendez

      Kim trained with Nesta Brooking (who had also trained with Margaret Craske) and then on to take classes with Joan Hewson at Pineapple since 1983.

      Maggie is the Principal and founder of Pineapple Performing Arts School based at the Studios for the past 17 years.

      Michael danced and performed for nearly two decades with British and other European companies, including a role as ballet master.

    • Milo Miles

      Milo Miles is a graduate of the National Ballet School of Canada and had his formal training with Betty Oliphant C.C., O.Ont., LL.D. who studied under Tamara Karsavina who in turn was trained by Enrico Cecchetti.

    • Roland Price

      Roland Price trained in Australia and at The Royal Ballet School. He was awarded the Adeline Genée Gold medal in 1978 and joined Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet in 1979, promoted to Principal in 1984.

      Romayne Gigorova MBE has been teaching this class for more than 30 years and still has many of the originals with her.

    • Rose Alice

      Rose Alice trained in classical ballet, contemporary and jazz in her native Australia. Rose is Artistic Director/Artist and Choreographer of London Contemporary Ballet Theatre, which featured recently in Beijing and Hong Kong.

      Susan has danced as a soloist in internationally acclaimed companies, including Northern Ballet, The Israel Ballet, Ballet-de-Nice, Ballet-de-Charleroi, and in New-York.

    • Tory Trotter

      Tory trained and danced professionally in Australia with ADT then joined NDT 1 under the direction of Jiri Kylian. As a teacher of Contemporary Ballet at professional level for over 20 years, Tory has taught in schools and for companies including DV8, Rambert and Matthew Bourne productions.
