Massage Therapy

What is Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy is a form of ‘hands on’ treatment that involves manipulation of the soft tissue structures of the body to alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress.

It is one of the oldest forms of treatment known to man. For centuries, it has been used to treat many different illnesses and conditions by applying manual techniques to positively affect the health and well-being of the client.

What is Voice Massage?

Voice Massage concentrates on relaxing the muscles that are directly or indirectly involved in voice production. It aims at relieving the tension that disturbs the balanced function of these muscles.

It is especially beneficial for those who use their voice in their work, such as Singers, Actors, Teachers, etc. This technique has been developed in Finland by massage therapist Leena Koskinen in collaboration with medical and voice specialists since 1984.

What are the benefits?

Massage Therapy improves the function of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular, skeletal and nervous systems and may improve the rate at which the body recovers from injury and illness.

Each treatment has variations on its basic form to make it specific to each person's need and requirements. Massage, being used for both treatment and prevention of body ailments, is beneficial for everyone.

Acupuncture, Remedial Massage & Reflexology

Acupuncture is an extremely effective treatment for joint pain, sciatica, headaches, gastric pain - in fact - pain caused by many different conditions. The needles are placed in Acupuncture points along a network of Meridian lines to balance and harmonise the body.

Manifestations of ill health arise through an imbalance of these channels. Diagnosis comes about through observation of the tongue, feeling the pulse, and careful questioning.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

With the use of Gold needles placed gently in the face, stimulation is given to the collagen ubder the skin and wrinkles are relaxed. This treatment revitalises the face and gives a youthful expression.

Aromatherapy - Remedial Massage

Kim is known for her treating chronic back pain with massage - combined with Acupuncture - to achieve the best effect, which together with the use of essential oils can also greatly reduce stress and everyday anxieties.

This is a therapy that works on the feet, using pressure points which can diagnose a patient's health. Through these reflexes, pain and congestion can be relieved in the various organs of the body, particularly the glandular and endocrine systems.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

This can work with Acupuncture to balance the patient's internal health, i.e. painful headaches, gastric reflux, painful periods, dizziness, etc.

Osteopathy is an approach to healthcare that emphasises the role of the musculoskeletal system in health and disease and the belief that the body works as a unit with structure and function interrelated.

In most countries, osteopathy is a form of complementary medicine, emphasising a holistic approach and the skilled use of a range of manual and physical treatment interventions in the prevention and treatment of disease. In practice, this most commonly relates to musculoskeletal problems such as back and neck pain. Osteopathic principles teach that treatment of the musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles and joints) facilitates the recuperative powers of the body.

Osteopathy can help with pain relief in all these areas: headaches; whiplash injuries; frozen or stiff shoulders; tennis elbow; wrist and hand pain; hip, thigh, and knee problems; postural problems; calf, shin, ankle, and foot pain; sports injuries, stiff neck, trapped nerves, arm pain; asthma and breathing trouble; lower back pain; slipped disc; leg pain; back pain in pregnancy; pain and stiffness associated with arthritis.

He deals with professional dancers, singers, actors and other creative performers and is primarily interested in restoring balance in the function of the performer's body.

As an Osteopath he is trained in understanding all the joints and muscles of the body, and has a detailed knowledge of anatomy.
