Introduction to Ballet with Lisa Fitzgerald (6 weeks)

This Intro to Ballet Course with Lisa Fitzgerald is a beginner friendly introduction to classical ballet. This 6 week dance course will cover usual ballet class structure, positions of the feet and arms, barre work and centre practice, while focusing on classical alignment and musicality. Students will learn full body coordination, work on core strength, body alignment and rhythmic timing in a supportive and inclusive space at Pineapple.

Each class will include basic ballet exercises at the barre and around the studio. Students who completed this dance course will become comfortable with classical ballet terminology and technical elements.

No previous dance experience necessary to take this beginner friendly course - all are welcome!

WHAT TO BRING

  • Footwear: Wear either ballet slippers or socks.
  • Comfortable clothing:  For our dance classes, we encourage everyone to wear what they feel the most comfortable to move in. You can visit our Pineapple store opposite the studios and ask for advice from our staff, or can check out our online store where we have all the dance essentials you might need for your class. We have changing rooms and showers on location.
  • Water bottle: It's important to stay hydrated during your classes, so make sure you bring your water bottle. We have multiple water points in the building where you can have a refill. 

 

SCHEDULE

This Ballet course for beginners is 6 weeks long, with 1 class per week on Thursdays (6 classes all together). Each class is 60 minutes long and held by Liza Fitzgerald at Pineapple Dance Studios. 

Course start date: 6th June 2024

Timings: Thursdays 7 - 8pm (60 minutes)

1st Class: Thursday 6th June

2nd Class: Thursday 13th June

3rd Class: Thursday 20th June

4th Class: Thursday 27st June

5th Class: Thursday 4th July

6th Class: Thursday 11th July

Price: £89

ABOUT LISA FITZGERALD

Contemporary classes with Lisa Fitzgerald at Pineapple Dance Studios

Lisa Fitzgerald is an American Ballet & Contemporary dancer and teacher based in London. An experienced and nurturing teacher, she believes that high-quality dance education is for everyone. Lisa's formative training was at the Nutmeg Conservatory for the Arts and she further trained with Elena Kunikova and Natalya Stavro in NYC. She has danced for Connecticut Ballet, Ballet Ambassadors, Ballet Theatre Company, Sarah Berges Dance, amongst others and as a freelance artist for various choreographers in NYC and London. Lisa has taught ballet and contemporary at the Mark Morris Dance Center, Ballet Theatre Company, City Academy, Urban Interface Dance UK, and has led movement workshops for military veterans with Soldiers Arts Academy and Bravo 22 in the UK, and with Exit12 throughout the USA. She is on the ballet faculty at West London School of Dance.

She is the Co-founder and Associate Artistic Director of Exit12 Dance Company, an international arts organisation dedicated to telling veterans' stories through dance and using movement as a way to connect and heal.

Lisa holds a Bachelor of Performing Arts, summa cum laude, from Saint Mary's College of California, and a teaching certificate from the Bolshoi Ballet Teacher Certification Program. Currently, she is pursuing her Masters of Arts in Education Dance Teaching at the Royal Academy of Dance in London.
